First of all, I want to thank Traci Arney Photography for all of the BEAUTIFUL photographs contained in this post! Her work is amazing. These photos were taken at the wedding & reception of one my favorite clients this year (at Fearrington Village).
Creative reception signage is so popular these days — signs on chalkboards, window panes, Kraft paper on burlap covered bulletin boards, elegant mirrors and weathered wood…the sky is the limit.
I may be biased, but I think handwritten signs are much more personal, welcoming and appealing to the eye!

A sign to greet guests as they arrive at the ceremony! Variations of this wording abound. The bride and I chose the wording of this sign below because it is more inclusive and friendlier in tone than the “choose a seat, not a side” version. Don’t you agree?
Signature Cocktails are all the rage at wedding receptions. This sign was written on slate with chalkboard pens…
Instead of the traditional table numbers, my client chose to use table names, which definitely add a personal touch to any reception. These tables were named for dates significant throughout the courtship of the bride & groom. The signs were written with white chalkboard pens on framed chalkboards with easel backs. An easy way to create small, framed chalkboards is to purchase a picture frame, remove the glass – and spray it with chalkboard paint (in a spray can). Reinsert the glass in the frame and…voilà.. instant chalkboard!
Guestbook signs are always helpful!
The bride & groom framed “fun facts” about themselves – which were displayed creatively at the reception. I wrote the facts with a white gel pen in my “Curly Contempo” writing style on black paper. I love the frames!
Treats as favors — so popular & fun! This sign was written on slate with a white chalkboard pen.
What could be more fun than a sparkler send-off!?
And look at this shot of the venue….Wowza! Absolutely gorgeous!
How about these shots? Priceless!
And here’s the beautiful couple after taking their vows….
Peace & love, y’all!
